i might be too weak to jog
Sort of a follow-up to my previous post: I went jogging for the first time in ten years.
I mentioned at the end of that post that my knee was hurting the day after my first jog, but as the day went on the pain went away. That had me feeling hopeful, and so I decided to go for my Thursday jog during my lunch. The five minute walking warmup was fine, and the first jogging interval was okay, too. But on the second jogging interval, the pain in my left knee started up again. The thing is, that pain disappeared as soon as I returned to walking. On the third jogging interval, I could tell that I was limping. At one point, when I put weight on my left knee, it felt like my knee buckled. I turned around and walked the rest of the way back home.
I felt disappointed with myself. I've been sedentary every day for years, and I thought it would be doable to just get up and start jogging three times a week. I think I need to start slower, so my current plan is still to continue going out and moving three times a week. I want my body to get used to walking leisurely for a half hour without pause, and then increase that to speed-walking, then to try jogging and Couch to 5K again.
It'll take longer than I originally expected to get where I want to be.
